Students have been working on measurement concepts and skills. They are working to tell time to the nearest minutes as well as elapsed time. Third graders have been introduced to fractions, using models to build, compare, and investigate the relationships among unit and common fractions. Through a short project, students had the chance to measure length to a fraction of an inch and display their data on a line plot. Our next focus will be on geometry concepts, such learning to describe, classify, and make generalizations about two-dimensional shapes more precisely as well as measuring area and perimeter of polygons.
