In our classroom we practice integrated vocabulary instruction.  Every other Monday students are giving a new list of 10 words that are pulled from across the sixth grade academic areas.  In week one students will use CRISS strategies to study their words and create a set of vocabulary study cards.  In week two of each cycle students will participate in a variety of research based vocabulary games and activities to build their context and understanding.  On the second Friday of each cycle students will be assessed using a cloze reading activity including all forms/meanings of each word.
